In the fall of 2016, Florabundance took its name and became a vendor for our first Coastal Wildscapes native plant sale at Ashantilly Center in Darien. Then, as now, the regional event gathered native plant vendors, local ecologists, horticulturists, and botanists, providing programs and sharing their knowledge and insight with customers and students of nature.
Our home-based nursery is just 6 miles north of Ashantilly off Highway 99, so we loaded up our cars and drove back and forth with everything we had to sell. Offering fewer than 20 native plants that first year, we entered the world of growing and selling natives.
Ten years later, Florabundance has earned its name and become the nursery of native plant abundance. Offering over 200 varieties of native plants year-round to gardeners, contractors, local governments, and public projects, our mission has grown beyond providing native perennials to home gardeners. We grow and stock perennials, shrubs, small trees, freshwater and salt-tolerant wetland plants, and an extensive selection of native grasses.
